Bathroom Adaptations Surveyor

With multiple long-term contracts with Local Councils across the Yorkshire region, we deliver over 600 level access showers/wet floor showers and wet rooms for the elderly and disabled each year as part of Disabled Facilities Grants, improving the quality of life for our customers.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Bathroom Adaptations Surveyor to design, measure and quote for these works, which are issued on a job-by-job basis, rather than multiple jobs on any single contract.

This secure, busy and dynamic role is full time, permanent and is based in our South Leeds office.

Principal duties include:

  • Visit occupied domestic properties on pre-arranged appointments to measure up for bathroom adaptations typically incorporating wet floor / level access showers, tiling, sanitary ware, joinery, plastering, electrics, heating, grab rails & support systems.

  • From time to time some elements will be specialist in nature (eg special baths, sanitary ware, and support systems, for which training can be given).

  • Works may also include minor building works on occasion eg taking solid walls down,

  • When required, create and produce basic plans of schemes that meet the specialist needs of the homeowner and specification requirements of the Council, from information provided.

  • Produce accurate quotations / tenders from a Schedule of Works provided by Council officers, from an agreed Schedule of Rates, or from in-house pricing applications.

  • For all orders, prepare and hand over a file for the installations team responsible for the delivery of the project, offering them assistance & support when needed both before and during the project.

  • Deal with any issues arising during the project such as additional works and variations.

  • Sign off on job on completion with fitter and prepare final account.

  • Regular updates of Company IT/CRM systems throughout the course of the process with information and documentation.

Experience

  • Experience of working in the home adaptations sector is a distinct advantage but experience of general bathroom layouts and installation (not necessarily adaptations) is essential.

  • A suitable applicant should have experience of surveying similar projects in occupied homes (i.e. not new build)

  • Experience of working with householders in domestic residences

Skills

  • A broad understanding of plumbing, joinery, electrics and other building trades

  • As we are dealing with elderly and vulnerable people, a calm, patient, relaxed and understanding personality type is essential

  • To be able to work to strict deadlines and target dates which accompany all enquiries

  • A multi tasker who is able to organise & prioritise workload and workflows to ensure deadlines are met, especially as the flow of enquiries can produce periods of high volume from time to time.

  • A good clear communicator (both written and verbal) able to communicate with both Customer (householder) and Client (the Councils)

  • A good level of IT literacy including competence in Outlook, Excel, Word. Training can be given on other company IT systems

  • Full driving licence

  • An enhanced DBS check will be carried out for the suitable applicant
