Associate Director of Engineering

Hunter Mason are currently working with a long-established and well regarded firm who specialize in Engineered Fire to source a Associate Director of Engineering; a typical week in this role could involve visits to customers sites where we have a permanent staff presence, desk based meetings with teams that are working overseas, quoting or tendering new works, preparing RAMS / CPPs, planning a schedule of preventive maintenance works and collaborating with colleagues (within an office environment or using Teams) who provide CAD, subject matter expertise, stores, admin and operational support. You’ll take on a wide range of fire & security engineering services projects that can include LV electrical installation works.
The Requirements
· A full UK Driving licence holder
· Willing to undertake security industry (BS7858) & UK Government vetting
· Qualified in a relevant discipline with broad electrical installation engineering background (inc. 18th Edition) and a minimum of XX years post training experience
· X Years experience in the fire & security industry, and a proven ability to deliver a varied portfolio of work as a supervisor or manager
· You will know how to manage projects and consider statutory compliance, H&S, CDM, contract risks, whilst being aware of cost, QA, environmental and NSI/BAFE controls within contract management
· Highly organised and motivated, you'll be confident managing a number of different projects across our customer base both in the UK and possibly overseas using directly employed and free-lance staff
· You’re a logical and innovative problem solver too, able to suggest pragmatic solutions and keep calm under pressure
· With a naturally collaborative approach, you can quickly build positive relationships with colleagues and customers alike. What’s more, you enjoy motivating a team
· Experience working within secure and historic buildings would prove an asset, but it’s not essential
· IT knowledgeable and with strong administrative skills, you'll be able to use Microsoft tools and ideally have experience of using CAD & SimPro (or similar software) to deliver your varied workload
· Willing to participate in the duty managers on-call rota (to provide telephone support to on call engineers and customers, 1 week a month) after 6 months
