Bench Joiner (Teaching) - Swansea

CARPENTER/BENCH JOINER – WORKSHOP TEACHING – SWANSEA We are currently seeking an experienced Bench Joiner with a passion for teaching to work with our special needs students converting old fire doors into high end, bespoke furniture. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a rewarding, supportive environment, where they will help to develop the skills and abilities of our students, while also practicing their craft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach basic woodworking and joinery skills to special needs students alongside another experienced joiner.

  • Plan and deliver engaging and innovative lessons that cater to the individual needs of students

  • Create a safe and supportive learning environment for students

  • Assess and monitor student progress, and provide feedback to students

  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop, and ensure that all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored

  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure that students receive the best possible education and support


  • Proven experience as a Bench Joiner or similar role with high end, bespoke furniture

  • Experience in a teaching role is preferable

  • A teaching qualification is desirable, but not essential

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • A patient and supportive approach to teaching

  • A passion for working with special needs students and helping them to achieve their full potential
