Estimator
Our client carry out a variety of construction contracts, ranging in value from £1,000 to £250,000 for an increasingly broad spectrum of Clients and working as part of the Estimating Department provides exposure to all of these. The Estimator will play a crucial role in supporting the continuous flow of new business through the Company.
The successful applicant will be required to:
·Analyse tender documentation and capture client’s requirements.
·Carry out site surveys using building pathology knowledge to diagnose modes of failure to enable the preparation of specifications, choices of materials and sequences of carrying out works safely.
·Accurately measure works at survey stage for pricing purposes.
·Technically proficient with the ability to interpret detailed drawings in relation to their practical applications, prepare take-offs and materials schedules.
·Prepare subcontract enquiries and evaluate quotations.
·Produce accurate and competitive commercial submission ready for internal review and sign off.
·Submit proposals to clients.
·Participate in tender handover meetings.
·Develop a client base and build relationships to ensure repeat business.
About the Candidate:
·A relevant Construction based Degree and/or strong practical site experience is preferable.
·3+ years’ experience in an Estimating role, or equivalent.
·Good negotiation, influencing and communication skills, well spoken and personable, able to get on with diverse personalities.
·Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
·Good organisation skills and attention to detail.
·Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office suite of software) with excellent numeracy skills.
·Self-motivated with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
·Capability to work on multiple tenders and budgets.
·Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
·Relevant CSCS card essential
